CDAS’ Vision

In 2008, recognising the accountancy sector’s potential for further growth, Singapore’s Ministry of Finance convened the Committee to Develop the Accountancy Sector (CDAS) to undertake a holistic review.

Members of the business community, audit firms and professional accountancy bodies were extensively consulted as part of this review. Given the mandate of developing new strategies to advance accountancy excellence in Singapore, CDAS held over 100 meetings over the course of 2 years with more than 80 stakeholder groups. Among those who shared their ideas and viewpoints with CDAS were students; educators; public and professional accountants; company directors; CFOs; and representatives of government agencies as well as national and global professional bodies. This intensive process revealed not only the urgency of the task at hand but also the need for a bold new vision of accountancy excellence.

An accountancy sector marked by vibrancy and diversity of talent mix; thought leadership; globally recognised programmes for professional education and development; high value-add; and its overall contribution to Singapore’s economy.
